Work experience

• Since June 2017: Economist - Research Official, Ministry of Economy and Finance, Madagascar
  • My primary focus lies in macroeconomic modeling, quantitative policy evaluation, and short-term forecasting..
    • For econometric modeling, I apply both traditional and modern procedures, though analysis remains constrained by the limited length of annual time series in Madagascar. While using high-frequency data partially mitigates this constraint, series rarely extend back beyond 2007.
    • For simulation purposes, I have long relied on quasi-accounting models to simplify Madagascar’s complex economic behavior through multiplier mechanisms. I later constructed Input-Output and other partial equilibrium models alongside Computable General Equilibrium (CGE).
    • For the forecasting exercise, I developed mixed-frequency data sampling (MIDAS) models, and together with Gerzhino Rasolofomanana, we implemented machine learning algorithms for nowcasting purposes. Our working paper was presented in the Africa Training Institute of the International Monetary Fund’s Peer-to-Peer Research Series webinar on Machine Learning for Nowcasting and Short-Term Forecasting in Sub-Saharan Africa, April 2026 (Link to the webinar Recording).
  • I also contributed to the development of the Roadmap on the Demographic Dividend in Madagascar.
• July 2016: Deputy Leader in the 57th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO 2016)
  • I was in charge of the Malagasy team for Madagascar’s first participation in the 57th International Mathematics Olympiad in Hong Kong.
• From December 2014 to August 2020: Part-time Teaching and Research Assistant, University of Antananarivo, Madagascar
  • I provided tutoring in Numerical Calculus for second-year Mathematics students.
  • Between 2014 and 2018, I served as a Research Scholar at the Center for Economic Studies of the University of Antananarivo. My research involved developing programs to convert LaTeX equations into Dynare code, as well as designing and calibrating DSGE (Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium) models tailored to Madagascar’s economy.
  • Apart from my teaching responsibilities, I also worked part-time at the Department of National Exams of the University of Antananarivo. From 2015 to 2018, I regularly served as the Chief Center for the Baccalaureate Exam in different districts, and in 2019, I took on the role of Supervisor.
• From Mars 2011 to February 2015: Content & SEO Assistant
  • I initially worked as a SEO (Search Engine Optimization) intern at IIS Madagascar, and later, for four years, I took on freelance SEO projects. My tasks primarily involved managing blogs and strategically placing links across various platforms.

• Application of the Fragility Prism in program development, design and implementation of national projects in fragile environments, African Development Bank, with support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Dakar, Senegal, December 15-19, 2019
  

  The workshop trained Bank experts, country managers, and economists on using the quantitative Country Resilience and Fragility Assessment (CRFA) tool to evaluate national capacity, analyze multi-dimensional pressures, and integrate resilience outcomes into project design and country strategy papers.
